Have your eyes widely open, as there are fake 100 face value RMB currency lurking around somewhere as you draw cash from ATMs! They can now pass certain currency detectors!
Fake 100 yuan normally start with the code HD90 or HB90. Some said the damn fake money came in from Taiwan and now they have covered almost all the big cities of east, south & middle China. It's a fake money plague, there are so many of them that it has become somewhat a nation wide turmoil.
Not until one of my friends told me she got cheated by a Qiang Sheng Taxi driver on a night ride (isn't QS with a good name?!), I really freaked out as my TINY pile of Chinese hard currency failed to be accepted by the ATM (yep, each red Mao money means a lot to me). Thank god they were real, in the end. Real gold always gotta shine!
Here are some useful tips from our "fake money detectors":
1. if you are a good toucher or good watcher, you probably will be safe - have to be sentational with money too!
2. if you cannot tell, report to the nearest police
3. if you want to spend it, you better not think of it as that's really bad to our society
4. if you don't know what to do, just cry
5. if you are too cold, burn the money to get warm
But really, what "fake money detectors" say is:
In the graphic,
Area 1: If it's real, turn the money slightly to an angle and you shall be able to see "100"
Area 2: If it's real, scratch Mao's colars with nail, it should be bumpy
Area 3: If it's real, there should be a coherent iron seam inside the paper
Area 6: If it's real, turn the money to an angle and you should see the "100" changing colour
Happy practise. XO
