Although greatest fashion design to me means marriage of commercial value and innovation, I still feel obliged to mention the 2 designers who are most aggressive about art regardless of the revenue of each season.
Hussein Chalayan
I see him as the most conceptual designer who constantly surprises people with his definition of fashion which usually involves experimental projects. In another word, I don't think his design is wearable NOW, maybe in 50 years people will...However, I have no doubt that there are always some souls needed to inspire the fashion industry.
